More Planes!!! (Because That's How We Get Around Now)

After leaving the airport with Andy, we had to go to a separate runway a couple of miles away on the one road taking you from the airport in King Salmon to Naknek on the other end. This is the only real road. When you're in a bush village, you're isolated.

We went to the hangar to pick Wendy up and saw rows of bush planes all lined up.

As I walked around and admired the planes, it reminded me of being on a carousel and choosing the most stunning horse, not wanting to mount one unless I was transfixed by it. It was the same with the planes. I had to choose my favorite.

It also reminded me of Dad. He would have loved this, moseying through the planes, admiring them and speculating about their histories.

At last, Wendy and Jacy cruised down onto the runway and disembarked. Because a bush plane has to be carefully balanced, Andy and the boys had to take a separate (and earlier) plane from Wendy, Jacy, and the boxes of Stuff For the Move.

Wendy and Jacy are inside this one:

All together again! Now to go to the new house! Technically home for Andy and Wendy now, but not truly home yet.

They miss Egegik, and likely will for a good long time.
